Hoffmann-Hayman — Express anniversary salute and H. & H. Blend (gallery date 20 May 1915)

The gallery file is dated 20 May 1915 in the filename; the visible copy is a congratulations notice in which Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee Co. salutes The Express on its fiftieth anniversary and contrasts the firm’s own growth from a small room three years prior to a large fire-proof building with a full roasting and grinding plant. The closing lines tout H. & H. Blend as the best coffee in San Antonio at 35¢ per pound. If that jubilee language belongs to the 1911 anniversary season, consider this scan a duplicate clip or rescan—the transcription still documents what appears on the image the collection holds under this name.

THE
Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee Co.Offers congratulations to The Express on its fiftieth anniversary and to the citizens of San Antonio on the remarkable growth of their city during the past few years and the wonderful improvements now under way.
We have grown some ourselves, having begun this business three years ago in a very small room, but are now occupying a large fire-proof building with a complete roasting and grinding plant and carrying the largest stock in our line in San Antonio.
Our greatest achievement in this time has been the production of our H. & H. Blend, by far the best coffee sold in San Antonio today for 35c a pound. Why pay more? It’s always the same smooth drink. Try it.
