Vintage H&H Coffee Cardboard Sign

less than 1 minute read

A second H&H Coffee cardboard sign came in from the same seller (rich206mech) who provided the larger “C-63 No. 1” sign back in August 2019. Small point-of-sale cardboard like this was printed in bulk by litho houses — most often Continental Litho. Corp. of Cleveland, Ohio — and shipped to grocers to hang on shelf edges, in display cases, or alongside the tin pyramids that H and H built at the front of stores. Because the pieces were meant to be disposable, survivors in any condition are uncommon, and duplicates are worth holding onto: they help date production runs by their printer codes and document how the same red-and-black Hoffmann-Hayman Co. branding was reissued across decades.
