H and H Crystalvac “Special Offer” — SA Light, 23 December 1932

Hoffmann-Hayman holiday display ad in the San Antonio Light announcing a multi-item premium offer to introduce the new 3-lb. H and H Crystalvac Handy Glass Jar. The 55¢-value bundle (1 package H and H Black Pepper, 1 bottle H and H Vanilla Extract, 1 package H and H Tea, plus 2 imported cups and saucers) was sold for 29¢ when purchased with 3 lbs. of H and H Crystalvac Vacuum Packed Coffee.

This clip dates the 3-lb. Crystalvac glass jar launch to late December 1932 — just over a month after the November 29, 1932 Official Gazette trademark registration of “Crystalvac” for H and H Blend Coffee (see assets/pdfs/1932-11-29-official-gazette-crystalvac-h-and-h-blend-coffee-trademark.pdf). The 3-lb glass jar is positioned alongside the 1-lb Crystalvac, illustrating the dual SKU within the year-old Crystalvac line.

Note the explicit product-line cross-sell: this single ad sells four Hoffmann-Hayman brands (Crystalvac Coffee, H and H Black Pepper, H and H Vanilla Extract, H and H Tea) plus a packed-glassware premium (imported cups and saucers). Spice/extract/tea cross-promotion is a recurring 1930s H&H strategy.

Slogan tags visible at the bottom: “We roast it, others praise it” and the explanation copy about Crystalvac keeping coffee fresh (“H and H Crystalvac Coffee stays fresh — IT STAYS FRESHER!”).
