Quantum Coffee Roasters

Small-batch, roasted-to-order specialty roaster based in Leon Springs (San Antonio), TX. Founded by Fidel and Diana Moreno, both full-time San Antonio schoolteachers — Fidel teaches Physics, Diana teaches Math.

Founding

Fidel’s path into coffee began when a student brought him homemade roasted coffee samples. He was unimpressed at first, then tried a fresh roast and found it revelatory against the commercial norm: “I had experienced the true flavors that coffee had to offer besides dark, darker, and darkest!”

By the end of that school year Fidel learned roasting from the student. When the student left for college, Fidel bought his espresso machine, grinder, and roaster. Word spread through sample-sharing and Quantum Coffee Roasters launched from their home kitchen.

Location

24188 Boerne Stage Road, San Antonio, TX 78255 — inside The Point Park and Eats in Leon Springs, which Quantum calls “The Mother Ship.” The coffee shop counter is closed, but roasted coffee is available for pickup (wholesale or monthly subscription) during The Point Park’s operating hours. The Point is an outdoor venue with food trucks, craft beer, live weekend music, a kids’ play area, and is pet-friendly.

Philosophy

Custom roasted-to-order from green coffees sourced globally. Fidel’s Physics background informs a science-oriented approach to roast precision; the operation emphasizes “lots of love and attention to detail.”
