Role

Moore is identified as president of Master Chef Food Products Corp. in:

  • 22 December 1966 San Antonio Light p. 32 — “Master Chef Color Provides Key” editorial story (HH-CLIP-1966-0002). Portrait photo of Moore in a suit with Jordan Sawyer “the Master Chef” in chef’s whites, both holding the new color-keyed Master Chef cans. Quoted on the new advertising schedule.
  • 30 December 1966 San Antonio Express p. 17 — “Master Chef Expanding” feature (HH-CLIP-1966-0003). Moore quoted with Warren Burns, sales manager, on the decision to expand operations in the San Antonio market “after a survey which showed great growth potential.” Announced the 601 Delaware plant had been expanded and modernized. Launched the color-keyed cans as the expansion’s first step.

Context

Moore’s appearance ~4 years after the 1962 Continental Coffee of Chicago acquisition documents that “Master Chef Food Products” was the company’s operating name at 601 Delaware under Continental — neither “H&H” nor “Hoffmann-Hayman” appears in the 1966 ads. Moore is the first documented post-Albert-Menger president of the local entity. Whether he reported to Continental’s Chicago headquarters, served on Continental’s national board, or held the Master Chef Food Products role as a standalone San Antonio managing-director-style appointment is not yet documented on this site.

Open questions

  • Was Moore an internal Continental promotion, an external hire, or held over from the pre-1962 H&H roster? None of the 1959-60 H&H officer rosters list a “Jack Moore.”
  • How long did Moore stay? The 30 Dec 1966 piece is the latest direct attestation. The Master Chef brand continued through at least 25 March 1968; whether Moore remained president through that window is undocumented.
  • What was Moore’s career before and after Master Chef Food Products? Texas business directories, Continental Coffee corporate filings, or San Antonio Chamber of Commerce records would document.
