Funeral notice for Charles Harper Griswold, 78, of 3803 S. Presa St., San Antonio, who died at his home Tuesday. Funeral services at 4 p.m. Friday at Hatfield Memorial Church of the Nazarene; burial at Knights of Pythias Cemetery.

Griswold was a native of Athens, Ohio, who had lived in San Antonio 40 years and served as retired traffic manager for the H. and H. Coffee Company for whom he had worked 26 years. He was an active and charter member of the Hatfield Church. Survived by his wife; sons Lewis W. and Carl C. Griswold (Hawthorne, Calif.); daughters Mrs. Roy B. Whitson (Cumberland, Md.) and Mrs. Erna Griswold Morgan; stepdaughter Mrs. Cyrus Earliwine; sister Miss Carrie Griswold (San Antonio); 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Griswold’s 26-year H&H career and role as traffic manager documents the company’s distribution and shipping operations. His native Ohio origin and 40 years in San Antonio places his arrival around 1913 — near the Morrison/H&H consolidation era.

Funeral services for Charles Harper Griswold, 78, 3803 S. Presa St., who died at his home Tuesday, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in the Hatfield Memorial Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Ernest Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery.

A native of Athens, Ohio, he had lived here 40 years and was the retired traffic manager for the H. and H. Coffee Company, for whom he had worked 26 years. He was an active and charter member of the Hatfield Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charles Harper Griswold, San Antonio; sons, Lewis W. and Carl C. Griswold, both of Hawthorne, Calif.; daughters, Mrs. Roy B. Whitson, Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Erna Griswold Morgan; step-daughter, Mrs. Cyrus Earliwine; sister, Miss Carrie Griswold, all of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
