A nearly full-page Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee Co. display ad from late 1936 anchored to a premium offer: a free 6-cup drip coffee maker or 8-cup percolator in exchange for 60 premium coupons earned from any combination of the company’s three flagship lines — H and H Coffee (2 coupons per pound), Sam Houston Coffee (1 coupon per pound), and Texas Girl Coffee (1 coupon per pound). For impatient customers a parallel cash offer lets the buyer get one pound of H-H Coffee and the maker together for 89¢, with the cash refund mailed after they’ve used 30 pounds of H-H or 60 pounds of Sam Houston or Texas Girl. Cash-refund offer expires December 31, 1937. The ad is signed at the bottom Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee Co., 601 Delaware St., San Antonio, Texas — “fresh roasted in the Southwest’s most modern roasting plant.” This is the same three-brand cluster (H&H + Sam Houston + Texas Girl) the company built out across the early-to-mid 1930s; the 1937 expiration date confirms the premium program ran into a second calendar year.
