Framed display: announcement plus “To the Customers of the Morrison Coffee Co.” and Morrison valedictory

This 28 January 1917 San Antonio Express item is the full-page treatment: the Hoffmann-Hayman Announcement of the Morrison purchase (effective 1 February, removal to 307 N. Medina), then a direct “To the Customers of the Morrison Coffee Co.” paragraph asking for a fair trial with orders from 3 February, and telephone Crockett 7803, Travis 147, New 3025. The Morrison Coffee Company signs a short valedictory, endorsing the buyer’s capacity and skilled staff to keep the same blends and quality—a rare two-signature format in the newspaper set.

Announcement

We take this means of advising the trade in San Antonio and Southwest Texas that we have purchased from The Morrison Coffee Company of this city their Roasting Plant, Stock of Merchandise, all Brands and Blends packed by them, good-will, etc., and will take charge of same Feb. 1st. We will continue their business at their old stand for about thirty days, when we will remove same to the fireproof building we now occupy at 307 N. Medina St.

This will double our capacity and assure you of prompt delivery. We will continue the packing of all the well-known brands (including “WESCO,” “MISA,” “BRONCHO,” “TEXCO” and “JUANITA”) of the Morrison Coffee Co. as well as the different bulk blends they have been selling.

Messrs. John Green and Johnnie Morrison, so long in the employ of the Morrison Coffee Co. will act in the same capacity as roasters and blenders for us, which will be a further guarantee of satisfactory service in connection with this line. Mr. Paul Rochs will represent us in the same territory he covered for the old firm, except the I. & G. N. to Laredo, which will be covered by Mr. M. R. Perron, who will also represent us in the Brownsville, Kingsville, Corpus Christi territory. These two gentlemen will carry a full line of Green and Roasted Coffee, Teas, Spices, Extracts, etc., at very attractive prices, and will appreciate your business.

To the Customers of the Morrison Coffee Co.

We have but this to say: We hope to receive the business you have been giving this firm—not because we have taken over their business, but because we expect to and will give you the quality, price and treatment that will merit same. The only favor we ask is a fair trial. We expect to be able to execute all orders promptly beginning Feb. 3rd, and will greatly appreciate any business entrusted to us.
