WOAI was San Antonio’s dominant radio station — the broadcaster over which the Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee Company opened its new 601 Delaware Street plant to the public. The firm’s 21 December 1932 Open House — refreshments, music, and the original 1904 hand roaster (“hardly larger than a 50-pound lard can”) displayed beside the modern equipment — was broadcast live on Station WOAI at 8 PM, giving the new roastery city-wide reach “at no print cost.”

WOAI is documented in the H&H record as a promotional / media channel, part of the company’s 1932 plant-opening publicity alongside its newspaper advertising.
