Antique 1lb. H&H Steel Cut Mocha Coffee Tin

This one-pound steel cut Mocha blend tin was picked up on eBay under the promising “H&H” label, but closer inspection revealed it is not a Hoffmann-Hayman product at all. It was produced by the Harnit & Hewitt Co. of Toledo, Ohio — a completely unrelated coffee house that happened to share the same pair of initials. Despite the mismatch, it earns a place in the collection as a cautionary example of how often the “H&H” monogram turns up on early twentieth-century coffee packaging, and how easy it is to mistake one regional roaster for another at a glance.
