Portrait and column sketch — Wm. R. Hoffmann, importer; San Antonio Light, 14 Feb 1908, page 18

The San Antonio Light for Friday, 14 February 1908 (page 18) runs a portrait and promotional sketch of Wm. R. Hoffmann, framing him as a rising coffee, tea, and spice merchant with Commerce Street quarters and Southern Pacific warehouse space — a useful anchor beside lighter mentions such as the Hoffmann Rhyme filler and the later West Commerce Hoffmann–Hayman location piece.

WM. R. HOFFMANN

Since he established himself in business in San Antonio six years ago, William R. Hoffmann has come to the front and he is now one of the leading business men of this city. Mr. Hoffmann is an importer of coffees, teas and spices and he is right up to the minute. His plant and offices are located in the rear of 208 East Commerce street and his warehouse is on the Southern Pacific track, and he is contemplating putting in one of the largest plants in the south. Mr. Hoffmann handles only the finest grade of roasted coffees and he has the best trade in San Antonio. One of his special brands is known as Hoffmann’s Package Coffee, which sells at from 20 to 40 cents, and is on sale at all first class grocers. This coffee is having quite a big run and people are asking for it every day. Coffee is roasted daily at Mr. Hoffmann’s plant and if you want fresh goods by all means get the Hoffmann brand. Mr. Hoffmann also handles Gold Elephant tea, which is of the finest flavor. Try one cup and you will be sure to want another.

The portrait cut carries the line WM. R. HOFFMANN. under the likeness; the column deck repeats the same.
