FIRE DAMAGES TUCKER COFFEE PLANT 2D TIME
A second fire within six months struck the roasting room of the Tucker Coffee company’s plant, 828 North San Marcos Street, early today, causing about $1,200 in damage.
S. Cartinez (904 North San Marcos) heard a muffled explosion and discovered the blaze. Fire confined itself to the rear of the roasting room; 25 sacks of coffee (25 lbs each) were destroyed. Plant manager A. A. Walker said firemen saved about $8,000 of inventory.
A prior fire 1 July (previous year) had caused $10,000–$12,000 damage; causes of both fires were undetermined at press time.
(Separate brief: barn fire at 144 Mayfield Boulevard, $200 loss.)
