Why it matters
This is the project’s research collaborator in print: Nancy Draves — whose family papers, worksheets, and photo holdings drive the Menger genealogy track — edited the 1861 diary of San Antonio teenager Kitty Anderson, daughter of the Unionist Colonel Charles Anderson. Beyond its Civil-War-era San Antonio texture (two decades before the Menger soap-works generation), it shows the editorial standards of the historian the project works with.
