Monday, 12 September 1932 San Antonio Express-News (page 5). Phi Zeta Chi sorority (Miss Dorothy McGee, president) entertained at luncheon Saturday on the Plaza Hotel roof as a farewell compliment to members leaving for school. The long table was decorated with dwarf pink zinnias. Helen Hoffmann is listed among the members present, alongside Helen Menger (another Menger family member), and covers were also marked for Misses McGee, Evangeline Edwards, Jacqueline Pape, Betty Comegys, Lou Ellen Goodwin, Margaret Ellen Henson, Clo Kempf, Bebe Reilly, Mary Ann Scott, Lola D. Sullivan, Elizabeth Vogt, Dorothy Vogt, Blanche McNally, Mary Arnett, Lola Carlin, Margaret Barnum, Anna Bess Seale, Eda Mae Gladwin; Mesdames Edith Gibbons, Ann Hussung, Frances White, Ann Louise Anderson, Esther Robards, and Irene Sherrill (members); and pledges Misses Jane Rowland, Jane Walker, Eram Walker, Helen Rose Compton, Ruth Tulloss, and Charlotte Tilley.

Fourteen months after her 1931 pledging, Helen is now a full member. The farewell luncheon format and the departure for school among peers suggest Helen may have been attending college at this time (consistent with the 1945 obituary noting she attended Incarnate Word College).
