Tuesday, 26 May 1931 San Antonio Light (page 39). Phi Zeta Chi sorority announces the pledging of new members, including Helen Hoffman (sic — one ‘n’ in this clip). Full pledge class: Mary Arnett, Ruth Caruthers, Helen Hoffman, Anna Bess Seale, Ann Strain, Jane Strain, Dorothy Walsh, Betty Reynolds, Jean Kelly, and Elizabeth Woodlief. The sorority also announces a regular Tuesday meeting at the home of Miss Agnes Gohmert, 209 Grove Place, 7:30 p.m., and a formal dance on the roof of the San Antonio Country Club, June 1, to honor June graduates. The dance is sponsored by Major and Mrs. E. L. Comegys; chaperones include Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Menger (a Menger family member).

This confirms Helen joined Phi Zeta Chi in 1931 at approximately age 19–20. The sorority connection explains the subsequent 1932 Plaza Hotel luncheon and the 1934 Phi Zeta Chi meeting at her home.
